Green Rove Beetle
Tachyporus hypnorum

Adults inhabit damp grassland, gardens, field margins, and woodland litter, often running over plants and soil surfaces. They hunt aphids, mites, and other tiny invertebrates with agile movements and sharp jaws. When disturbed, they can tuck their wings beneath short wing cases and quickly take flight. The beetle's greenish wing cases help it blend among fresh vegetation.
