Giant House Spider
Eratigena duellica

Giant house spiders inhabit sheds, garages, cellars, and other dry buildings, often retreating into a funnel-shaped web. They wait near the web entrance for insects and other small arthropods, then rush out with remarkable speed to seize prey. Males commonly wander indoors during late summer and autumn while searching for females. Despite their intimidating size, they are generally shy and their venom is primarily used to subdue small prey.
