Typhon Sphinx Moth
Eumorpha typhon

Adult Typhon sphinx moths inhabit wooded areas, vine-covered edges, and gardens where their larval host plants grow. They fly chiefly at dusk and night, using rapid wingbeats to visit flowers for nectar. Their broad forewings are mottled in earthy tones, helping a resting moth disappear against bark and dead leaves. Adults can hover briefly while feeding, a hallmark of many sphinx moths.
