Pyramid Ant
Dorymyrmex insanus

Pyramid ants are quick ground-foragers of dry, open habitats, especially sandy soils and grasslands. They gather small insects, scavenged animal matter, and sugary honeydew, then return to conspicuous cone-shaped nest entrances. Adults use their mandibles in defense and can release defensive chemicals when disturbed.
