Monocled Cobra
Naja kaouthia

The monocled cobra inhabits agricultural land, grassland, forest edges, and settlements near reliable cover and prey. It feeds chiefly on rodents, frogs, lizards, and other small vertebrates, often hunting at dusk or at night. When disturbed, it raises the front of its body, spreads its hood, and gives a forceful hiss. The single circular mark on the back of its hood gives this cobra its common name.
