South American Rattlesnake
Crotalus durissus

The South American rattlesnake occupies dry savannas, open woodland, scrub, and grassland, often resting in sheltered crevices or beneath vegetation. It waits motionless for rodents, birds, and other small vertebrates before striking with long hinged fangs. When threatened, it raises and vibrates its tail rattle as a highly recognizable warning display.
