Koch's Wolf Spider
Alopecosa kochi

Koch's wolf spider is a ground-dwelling arachnid of open, dry habitats such as grassland, heath, and sandy terrain. It hunts without a capture web, relying on sharp vision, quick runs, and short ambushes to seize small insects and other arthropods. Prey is subdued with a fang bite and venom before being consumed. Like other wolf spiders, the female carries her egg sac and may later carry newly hatched spiderlings on her body.
