Black Skirt Tetra
Psalidodon anisitsi
Adults live in calm rivers, streams, floodplain pools, and vegetated backwaters of the Paraguay River basin. They feed opportunistically on small aquatic invertebrates, insect larvae, plant material, and detritus. The adult's tall, flattened body and dark vertical bars give it the familiar black-skirt appearance, though the dark coloration can fade with age.
