Giant Cicada
Quesada gigas
Adult giant cicadas inhabit trees and shrubs in warm forests, woodland edges, and gardens. They feed on plant fluids, probing twigs and stems with a long rostrum. Males produce an exceptionally loud, sustained call by vibrating specialized body membranes, using it to attract mates from high perches.
