Blue Mint Beetle
Altica sylvia
Adult blue mint beetles live on mint-family plants in moist grasslands, field edges, and gardens. They chew foliage and readily spring away with their enlarged hind legs when threatened. Their metallic blue-green sheen is produced by the structure of their wing cases rather than a pigment alone.
