Spanish Shawl Nudibranch
Flabellinopsis iodinea

Adults inhabit Pacific coastal kelp forests, rocky reefs, and tide pools, usually where hydroid colonies are abundant. They crawl deliberately over submerged surfaces while grazing on hydroids with a rasping radula. The bright purple body and orange-tipped cerata warn predators of its defenses. Stinging cells stolen from hydroid prey can be stored in the cerata for protection.
