Haddon's Carpet Anemone
Stichodactyla haddoni

This large sea anemone lives on sandy or muddy bottoms in shallow Indo-Pacific reefs and lagoons. It buries its column in the substrate, leaving a broad carpet of sticky tentacles exposed to catch small fish and other animals. Stinging cells in the tentacles immobilize prey and discourage predators. It is well known for sheltering symbiotic anemonefish among its tentacles.
