Peacock Cichlid
Aulonocara nyassae

Adult peacock cichlids inhabit sandy and rocky shore zones of Lake Malawi, where they patrol close to the bottom. They detect and pick small invertebrates, especially crustaceans and insect larvae, from sand and sediment. Males become brightly coloured and perform fin displays while defending breeding territories.
