long-legged grasshopper
Acrometopa macropoda

The adult long-legged grasshopper occupies dense grasses and shrubs, often resting quietly among foliage. It feeds chiefly on vegetation and may also take small insects opportunistically. Long hind legs launch it through cover, while developed wings allow it to escape over short distances. Males produce rasping calls by rubbing their wings together.
