Turbinate Monodont
Phorcus turbinatus

Adult turbinate monodonts live on rocky Mediterranean and nearby Atlantic shores, moving over exposed rocks between tides. They graze algae and biofilm with a rasping radula, then shelter in crevices or clamp tightly to the substrate. Its strong spiral shell and closing operculum help it endure pounding surf and temporary exposure to air.
