African Bush Viper
Atheris squamigera
African bush vipers inhabit humid forests of central and western Africa, spending much of their time in trees and dense shrubs. They hunt by remaining motionless in ambush before striking frogs, lizards, birds, and small mammals. Their strongly keeled scales give them a distinctive rough, bristly appearance unlike that of many other vipers.
