Spotted Tree Monitor
Varanus timorensis
The spotted tree monitor inhabits dry woodland, savanna, and rocky country across parts of Indonesia and Timor-Leste. It is an agile climber that hunts insects, small vertebrates, eggs, and carrion, using its claws and strong jaws to seize food. Despite its tree-climbing habits, it often forages on the ground and may take refuge in hollows or crevices.
