Gaboon Viper
Bitis gabonica

Adult Gaboon vipers inhabit rainforest floors, moist savanna, and cultivated areas with dense ground cover in sub-Saharan Africa. They are patient ambush hunters, feeding chiefly on rodents and other small mammals, but may also take birds and amphibians. Their intricate leaf-like pattern provides exceptional camouflage, and they possess the longest fangs of any venomous snake.
