Rhinoceros Viper
Bitis rhinoceros

The rhinoceros viper inhabits humid forests, forest edges, and densely vegetated savannas in West and Central Africa. It is a patient ambush hunter, lying concealed among fallen leaves before striking passing rodents, frogs, birds, or lizards. Its diet broadens as it grows, with larger adults taking substantial small mammals. Prominent hornlike scales above the snout give this viper its distinctive common name.
