Australian Spotted Jellyfish
Phyllorhiza punctata

Adult Australian spotted jellyfish inhabit warm coastal waters, estuaries, and harbors, where they drift and pulse through the open water. Their frilly oral arms trap zooplankton, fish eggs, and other small drifting animals. White spots decorate the translucent bell, while blue-green algae living in its tissues can contribute nutrients. Although its stings are usually mild to people, its tentacles effectively subdue small prey.
