Tropheops
Tropheops tropheops

Adults inhabit rocky reefs and boulder fields in Lake Malawi, usually in clear, shallow water. They graze algae and associated microorganisms from rock surfaces, supplementing this diet with small invertebrates. Males defend breeding areas and display or rush at rival fish. Females brood their eggs and young in the mouth after spawning.
