Aurora Cichlid
Maylandia aurora
Adult Aurora cichlids inhabit shallow, rocky areas of Lake Malawi, where they patrol close to algae-coated surfaces. They graze algae and associated microorganisms, while also taking small invertebrates when available. Males defend breeding territories with fin displays and vigorous chases, and females brood developing young in their mouths.
