Red Zebra Cichlid
Maylandia estherae
Adult red zebra cichlids inhabit algae-covered rocks along Lake Malawi's shoreline. They graze on attached algae and also take small invertebrates, defending feeding patches from rivals. Females are dedicated mouthbrooders, carrying eggs and young in the mouth until the offspring can swim independently.
