Ruffe
Gymnocephalus cernua

Adult ruffe live in freshwater lakes, rivers, and brackish coastal waters, usually foraging along the bottom. They eat insect larvae, small crustaceans, fish eggs, and occasionally tiny fish. Their spiny dorsal fin can be raised as a defense, making them difficult for predators to swallow.
