Golden Lancehead
Bothrops insularis

Golden lanceheads inhabit the forested slopes and rocky clearings of Queimada Grande, an island off southeastern Brazil. Adults spend much of their time motionless in vegetation, ambushing lizards and migratory birds. Their pale golden coloration helps them blend with sunlit leaves, while exceptionally potent venom quickly subdues prey.
