Banana Weevil
Cosmopolites sordidus

Adult banana weevils inhabit banana-growing areas, hiding by day in plant debris, soil crevices, and around the base of host plants. They feed and lay eggs in banana corm tissue, using their long snouts to work into plant surfaces. Although winged, they rarely fly and commonly spread by crawling or through transported planting material.
