Muscle Ant

Brachymyrmex musculus

Muscle Ant

Muscle ants are tiny ground-dwelling ants found in warm terrestrial habitats, especially beneath stones, in leaf litter, and around vegetation. Adults forage actively for sugary secretions, honeydew, and small arthropod remains. They use their antennae to inspect surfaces and their jaws to handle food or deter intruders. Like other ants, their hard external skeleton protects the body while providing attachment points for strong muscles.
