Crystal Red Shrimp
Caridina cantonensis
Adult Crystal Red Shrimp inhabit cool, clean freshwater streams and densely planted waters with ample surfaces for grazing. They spend much of their time picking biofilm, algae, detritus, and tiny food particles from rocks and vegetation. When threatened, they can snap their abdomen to dart backward into cover. The familiar red-and-white coloration is a selectively bred color form of Caridina cantonensis.
