Bridled Skink
Heremites vittatus

The adult bridled skink inhabits sun-warmed rocky slopes, scrubland, and open ground across parts of the Mediterranean region and western Asia. It actively hunts insects, spiders, and other small invertebrates, using quick bursts of speed among cover. When threatened, it may shed its tail to distract a predator and escape.
