Leafy Seadragon
Phycodurus eques

Leafy seadragons inhabit kelp forests, seagrass beds, and rocky reefs along southern Australia. They drift slowly among algae, using their leaf-like appendages as camouflage while feeding on small shrimp and other crustaceans. Despite their ornate appearance, the appendages are mainly for concealment rather than swimming. Males carry developing eggs attached beneath the tail until they hatch.
