Threadsail filefish
Stephanolepis cirrhifer

Adult threadsail filefish inhabit shallow rocky reefs, weed-covered bottoms, and sandy coastal areas of the northwestern Pacific. They use strong, beaklike jaws to crop algae and crush or nip small benthic invertebrates. A prominent first dorsal spine can be locked upright, making the fish harder for a predator to swallow.
