Colombian Rainbow Boa
Epicrates maurus
The adult Colombian rainbow boa lives in warm, humid forests, savannas, and agricultural edges, often staying close to cover or water. Mostly active at dusk and night, it ambushes mammals, birds, lizards, and amphibians before constricting them. Its smooth scales can flash an iridescent rainbow sheen in direct light, despite the snake's generally secretive habits.
