Gold Tegu
Tupinambis teguixin

Gold tegus live in tropical forests, wetlands, and brushy waterside habitats across northern South America. They are active ground foragers that eat insects, eggs, small animals, carrion, and fruit. When threatened, an adult can deliver a strong bite and lash its muscular tail, while its forked tongue continually samples scents.
