Hemiramphus brasiliensis
Adult ballyhoo live in warm marine coastal waters, especially around reefs, grass beds, and open shallows. They feed near the surface on zooplankton, small crustaceans, and tiny fish. Their long lower jaw helps distinguish them from most other baitfish.
