Peruvian Lime Green Stick Insect
Oreophoetes peruana
The adult Peruvian lime green stick insect inhabits leafy forest vegetation in Peru, blending closely with shoots and foliage. It is a herbivore that feeds on leaves, usually remaining still during the day to avoid detection. Its long, vivid green body mimics a twig or plant stem even at close range. If exposed, it can use chemical defenses to discourage predators.
