Common Sole Juvenile
Solea solea (juvenile)

The juvenile has settled onto sandy or muddy seabeds in shallow coastal water and estuaries. It lies partly buried during the day, feeding on small worms, crustaceans, and molluscs found in the sediment. Both eyes are now on the upper side of its flattened body, allowing it to watch for danger while remaining concealed.
