Longhorn Cowfish
Lactoria cornuta

Adult longhorn cowfish inhabit warm Indo-Pacific lagoons and coral reefs, usually swimming slowly close to the bottom. They use small protrusible mouths to pick crustaceans, mollusks, worms, and algae from the reef. Their rigid, horned carapace offers protection, and stressed individuals can release a toxic mucus into the water.
