Freshwater Butterflyfish
Pantodon buchholzi

Adults inhabit quiet pools, backwaters, and slow rivers in tropical freshwater habitats, usually holding position at the surface. They ambush insects, small crustaceans, and occasional small fish with an upward-facing mouth. Their large, winglike pectoral fins let them make powerful leaps to escape threats or seize prey at the surface.
