African Fat-tailed Gecko
Hemitheconyx caudicinctus
African fat-tailed geckos inhabit dry grasslands and savannas, spending daylight hours hidden in burrows, termite mounds, or beneath debris. Active mainly at night, they ambush insects, spiders, and other small invertebrates with a quick bite. The thick, rounded tail serves as an important fat reserve during lean conditions.
