Buru Babirusa
Babyrousa babyrussa

Buru Babirusas inhabit tropical forests, swampy lowlands, and river margins on Buru and surrounding islands. They forage for fruit, roots, leaves, and invertebrates, often using their snouts to search through soft ground. Adults are usually solitary or found in small family groups and can move swiftly through thick vegetation. Males possess extraordinary upper canine tusks that curve upward through the snout and are used in displays and fights.
