Northern Tamandua
Tamandua mexicana

Northern tamanduas inhabit tropical and subtropical forests, mangroves, and plantations, spending time both in trees and on the ground. They use powerful curved claws and a long sticky tongue to open insect nests and feed mainly on ants and termites. When threatened, an adult may rear up and strike with its formidable foreclaws.
