Canadian Tiger Swallowtail Caterpillar
Papilio canadensis (larva)

This caterpillar feeds on the leaves of birch, willow, poplar, cherry, and other woody host plants in forest edges and clearings. It spends much of its time chewing foliage and resting along twigs or leaves, where its green body blends into the vegetation. When threatened, it can rear up and extend a foul-smelling orange defensive organ from behind its head. Older caterpillars leave their feeding sites to find a sheltered place to pupate.
