Sunda Pangolin Pup
Manis javanica (pup)

Young Sunda pangolins are born in tropical forest dens or sheltered hollows, with soft scales that harden soon after birth. A pup stays close to its mother, often riding on her tail while learning the scents of ants and termites. When threatened, it curls tightly against the body of the mother or into its own small ball. Like adults, it has no teeth and relies on a long sticky tongue for feeding.
