Snouted Cobra
Naja annulifera
The snouted cobra lives in savannas, open woodland, and rural habitats across southern Africa, sheltering in holes, termite mounds, or dense cover. It hunts chiefly at night, taking rodents, frogs, lizards, and other small vertebrates. When cornered, it spreads a broad hood, hisses loudly, and may deliver a venomous bite or spray venom in defense.
