Brown-throated Sloth
Bradypus variegatus
Brown-throated sloths inhabit tropical forests from Honduras through much of northern South America. They spend most of their lives suspended in the canopy, feeding chiefly on leaves, buds, and tender shoots. Algae growing in their shaggy fur provides camouflage, while their slow metabolism allows them to survive on a low-energy diet.
