Red-tailed Pipe Snake
Cylindrophis ruffus

The adult Red-tailed Pipe Snake inhabits humid lowland forests, plantations, and gardens with soft soil and deep leaf litter. It is a secretive burrower that emerges mainly at night to hunt small snakes, lizards, and other suitable vertebrate prey. Its blunt, red-marked tail can be presented like a false head to confuse an attacker while the real head remains protected.
