East Mediterranean Melanopsis
Melanopsis praemorsa

East Mediterranean melanopsis is a freshwater snail found in springs, streams, and calm margins with firm substrates. It grazes algae, microbial films, and detritus from rocks and sediments using its radula. Adults spend much of their time slowly crawling and feeding, retreating into the shell when threatened. Its elongated, darkly patterned shell is a characteristic feature of the species.
