Black Desert Ant
Cataglyphis nigra
Black Desert Ant workers inhabit hot, dry desert landscapes and forage across exposed ground. They rapidly search for dead insects, other small arthropods, and occasional plant foods. Individuals navigate back to the nest using visual cues and the sun. Their remarkable speed and heat tolerance allow them to forage when many predators are inactive.
