Carpathian Scorpion
Euscorpius carpathicus

The Carpathian scorpion lives beneath stones, bark, and leaf litter in humid forests and rocky places across parts of southeastern Europe. It is chiefly active at night, emerging to seize small insects, spiders, and other invertebrates with its pincers. Its sting is used mainly to subdue prey or defend itself, and its venom is generally mild to people. Despite its name, it is a small scorpion, usually hiding in tight, damp refuges by day.
