California Little Shrimp
Hippolyte californiensis

California little shrimp live in sheltered coastal bays, especially among eelgrass, algae, and other dense underwater vegetation. They pick through plant growth and debris for small invertebrates, algae, and organic material. Their slender, often mottled bodies blend into the vegetation, while a sharp tail flick can quickly propel them away from danger.
